![]() Full payment due in seven days of auction closing. The car gets lots of attention at cruise nights (drives the Corvette and Mustang people crazy) because the car is pretty rare and honestly how often do you see them on the road (think most were crushed around here). This car is not a perfect car, it is a nice driver that you can park and not have to worry about. Please remember that this car is not going to win the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance for best of show in her current condition. The car is registered and insured and I do drive it once and awhile to blow the dust off of it. I would encourage anyone interested to come and look at/drive the car prior to bidding if possible. I know that I have probably missed a few things in describing the car so please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have. You can buy a newer style replacement unit from Cougars Unlimited that replaces all of the parts for less than $250 and it will be like new with newercomponents. All the lights do work and operate but it needs a new "brain" to the best of my knowledge. Unfortunately, although very cool, they are not working. The coolest feature on this car, besides the suicide doors, is the sequential taillights. They close fine on their own and remain down without a problem even during extended winter storage. Once and awhile they will open ok on their own but usually not. Lastly, most of the time you will have to give the headlight covers a nudge to open up. The radio and power antenna are inoperable and the heater core is bypassed. The car also needs both tailpipes, the exhaust is nice and quiet but it is missing both tailpipes.I don't know why the person who did the mufflers never replaced them. The front passenger door window works with assistance due to the plastic bushings (little white plastic things) in the motor needing replacement and the passenger rear window is not working (think it needs a motor). The connection on the master switch is loose so sometimes you have to plug it back in to make it operate. The driver door power window works well and the driver rear window also works good most of the time. I think that the only options that it has is the 429 V8 and power windows. I would say that this is a low optioned vehicle. This was always one of the cars on my bucket list but with nine cars right now this one does not get driven often so I am thinning the fleet. I have recently put a new fuel pump in the car along with points and ignition coil. The 429 V8, 360 horsepower has tons of power and that is one of the main reasons that I purchased the car along with the 4 doors. The Firestonetires are in good shape showing more than half tread remaining on them and they are whitewalls but for some reason the previous owner had the black walls on the outside, I would reverse them in my opinion. This bird drives effortlessly and is as smooth as can be going down the road, she also tracks nice and straight when driving with no pulling and also stops nice and straight. The transmission shifts nice and smooth with no noises etc. The motor runs great and it is nice and quiet. Both front door arm rests do have some wear, the passenger side showing the most with some small cracks and splits in the vinyl. The rear seat is like new and the driver seat does not show much wear at all. The interior I would rate as good condition and I think that the photos show the condition very well. I would rate the paint as fair due to being old and having multiple deficiencies such as scratches, minor dings and environmental damage. The car has been painted in the past and it looks like someone did an amateur restoration many years ago. The car comes with ownership documents and the dealership books/literature and build sheet from 1968. I have the paperwork fromJwhen the car was sold used at Anderson Ford just outside of Buffalo, NY. This is a very original unmolested car that runs and drives good down the road. That being said, the car was always garaged and that is obvious based on the condition of the car. This is a local car that has been in Western NY all of its life. This car is fun to drive and always has people scratching their heads because not many people realize that the Thunderbird had four doors for a couple years. Up for sale is my 68 T-Bird four door sedan. Description of 1968 Ford Thunderbird Four Door Laudauġ968 Ford Thunderbird 4 door (suicide door) 429 Thunder Jet 4bbl sedan with 70,000 original miles.
